The conversation between Psyche and Orual at the top of the mountain is EXACTLY what it must have been like for Jesus to talk about the Kingdom, and also what it's like for mythics to speak of the Kingdom today in a world of Greeks.
Hope that's enough tease to get you to read it...
Yes. This book affected me like no other. It opened my eyes and it blinded me, encouraged me with big saving arms and cast me headlong into the heavens...
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing thought about that conversation. If I remember, in pained Psyche to tears that Orual could not see. Would not see? Would=could?
I wonder how much of seeing is related to what we want to see, what we can accept?
Funny how a story can have those effects on us.
ReplyDeleteYes, it pained her that Orual could not see the palace. Her countenance changed completely when she realized it.
A little while later, Orual did get a glimpse at the palace, but it was gone in a wink. Just when she began to wonder if Psyche was really seeing something, the wisdom of her friends and her own desire to "have" Psyche persuaded her otherwise and stiffened her resolve to "rescue" Psyche.
